Dun Identification Help

If you would like our assistance with determining if your horse is dun dilute, we would be happy to help when possible. You can click above to email a photos.

ID Help Requirements

Do NOT send tiny photos! If I can't see it, I can't help.

Do NOT send HUGE files! Learn to crop and resize. Photos should not be too small, but photos that would require a large screen TV to view them at full size are ridiculous since my monitor isn't that large. Plus, huge files tend to freeze up my email program. Cropped photos generaly don't need to be any larger than approx. 1200 px x 1500 px, for example. If you don't know how to crop and resize photos with whatever program you have, click on HELP in the menu for ... well ... help.

No more than 5 MB attached to an email, please.

Show me the markings! Don't ask me to tell you if your horse is dun dilute and not bother including photos that clearly show any markings the horse has.
There are plenty of examples of precisely the type of photos needed to help you right here on the site! Study them and do your best to take photos just like them to send to me.

I really do like to help, but it's frustrating to spend so much time downloading massively huge emails/files and wait for my email program to unfreeze once I click on the message, only to find five 3/4 front shots, three side shots, and nothing showing a leg bar or dorsal.

Emails with 10+MB of attachments will not be accepted. They will be bounced back to the sender.

Crop and resize, please.
Not everyone has blazing fast internet or a computer with Lamborghini-speed RAM.

Dun Central Station (DCS) was originally the brain child of Gerald (Jerry) Hess of The Lineback Morgan Stud, created as a means of educating the general Morgan community on the dun dilute gene within the Morgan breed. As with all grand ideas, DCS began to take on a life of its own. It gained great favor with other breeders and enthusiasts of the dun Morgan. Additionally, even fans of other breeds began to direct people to Jerry's web site for the wonderful, accurate information, and photographic examples of dun colors and markings.

A small group of Morgan breeders/enthusiasts banded together in support of the concept of DCS. Because of their initial support and early contributions of photos, articles, etc., DCS has grown even more. The "Founders" of Dun Central Station were instrumental in the early stages of this web site. For this, they deserve a special "Thank You" from all of us who have an interest in the dun dilute colors in the Morgan breed, as well as those who seek well researched information about the dun dilute gene in general.

Be absolutely sure to click on the "More Information" icon for the Dun Zygosity test for some important information and requirements regarding this test.
