This foal was sired by Delmaytion
Top King, a bay stallion, who is also pictured on
the Look-A-Like page. Counter shading markings
can and are passed on frequently, as it
is an inherited trait just as any other color gene
is. Delmaytion Top King is known for passing on
his counter shading quite regularly to his foals.
This foal's coat color is not diluted,
but rather is a paler red, lightened somewhat in
the soft areas by pangare. She lacks the caramely-red
tones of a bay dun foal. Note the pale coloring
on the muzzle, insides of the upper legs, and on
the upper hind leg/butt from her pangare.
Although the counter shading dorsal
does appear to be flanked by frosting in the tail,
this frosting is almost certainly caused by the
effects of pangare. The frosting does not closely
match the body coloring as it would on a bay dun.
And not uncommon for the offspring of Delmaytion
Top King, this foal also has foal camouflage
leg markings.
